Maura Hackett

100 ton USCG Licensed Boat Captain

Maura can usually be found on schooners, either racing or as an educator. She learned to sail in college on traditionally rigged boats, and it has become a part of who she is. She splits her time between working for non-profits and traveling the world working on boats. Taking kids on ships in deep swell in San Francisco, providing luxury private ferry service to Governors Island in New York City, captaining a 1930 wooden tugboat, seeing penguins and dolphins in New Zealand - she’s had amazing experiences on the water. If there’s a schooner race, the chances are good that Maura will be on a ship. She’ll bring whatever stubbornness and flexibility is necessary in order to keep finding her place at sea. She loves being on the water, and she plans to always give it priority in her life.
